Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Girardin studied under Thomas Satterwhite Noble and later Frank Duveneck at the Cincinnati Art Academy. His paintings are found in the San Diego Museum of Art, the Richmond Art Museum, the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, Morrisson-Reeves Library, Kokomo-Howard County Public Library, and the Wayne County Historical Museum. The San Diego Museum of Art opened as the Museum of Fine Arts on February 28, 1926. The Richmond Art Museum was founded in 1898 as the Art Association of Richmond Indiana.
