Four Treasures of the Study (Traditional Chinese: 文房四寶 Simplified Chinese: 文房四宝 wén fáng sì bǎo, Japanese 文房四宝 Bunbō shihō) is an expression used to refer to the ink brush, inkstick, paper and inkstone used in Chinese calligraphy. Ink brushes ( in Japanese fude) are used in Chinese calligraphy. An inkstone ( or; Japanese: 硯 suzuri) is literally a stone mortar for the grinding and containment of Ink. In Korea, it is usually written as 문방사우(文房四友) "Mun bang sa woo", which means "Four Friends of the Study. "
