The event occurs in Belgium (Poperinge Military Prison in Flanders) during the First World War. The Kingdom of Belgium is a Country in northwest Europe. It is a founding member of the European Union and hosts its headquarters as well as those Two soldiers, Captain Phillip Levaul-Grimwood and Second Lieutenant Edward Brennan are facing their last few hours together. At dawn, one of them will be executed for desertion. But maybe not who you'd think of . . .
The movie is mainly a huit-clot. The main action happens in the cell where the Captain (a Chaplain) and the Second Lieutenant are talking, with two outside flash-backs. The rhythm is slow, oppressive. The sepia coloring and the dim lights add also to that effect.
This movie, shot in two days with Hollyoaks fame Nick Pickard and Matt Littler, is dedicated to the 346 British and Commonwealth soldiers shot at dawn between 1914-1918. Hollyoaks is a British television Soap opera which was first broadcast on 23 October 1995 on Channel 4. Nick Pickard (born 1975 is a BS award nominated English Actor, known for his work on British Television.
