The Folklore Society was founded in England in 1878 to study traditional vernacular culture, including traditional music, song, dance and drama, narrative, arts and crafts, customs and belief. England is a Country which is part of the United Kingdom. Its inhabitants account for more than 83% of the total UK population whilst its mainland

The society publishes a quarterly journal Folklore, and since 1986 a newsletter, FLS News. It has library facilities at the Warburg Institute and the D M S Watson Library at University College, London. The Warburg Institute is a research institution associated with the University of London. University College London ( UCL) is a multi-faculty university institution based in the United Kingdom and a constituent college of the University of London
