Foldit is an experimental video game about protein folding, developed as a collaboration between the University of Washington's departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Biochemistry. A language is a dynamic set of visual auditory or tactile Symbols of Communication and the elements used to manipulate them Computer software can be organized into categories based on common function type or field of use A video game is a Game that involves interaction with a User interface to generate visual feedback on a video device. A software license (or software licence in commonwealth usage is a Legal instrument governing the usage or redistribution of copyright protected software A website (alternatively web site or Web site, a back-construction from the Proper noun World Wide Web) is a collection of Web pages A video game is a Game that involves interaction with a User interface to generate visual feedback on a video device. Protein folding is the physical process by which a Polypeptide folds into its characteristic and functional three-dimensional structure. See Washington (disambiguation for other uses The University of Washington, founded in 1861, is a public research University Computer Science and Engineering is the discipline formed by the union of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes in living Organisms It deals with the Structure and function of cellular components such as The first public beta was released in May 2008. A software release is the distribution whether public or private of an initial or new and upgraded version of a Computer software product

Foldit provides a series of tutorials in which the user manipulates simple protein-like structures, and a periodically updated set of puzzles based on real proteins. Academia In British academic parlance a tutorial is a small class of one or only a few Students in which the Tutor (a Lecturer The application displays a graphical representation of the protein's structure which the user is able to manipulate with the aid of a set of tools. As the structure is modified, a "score" is calculated based on how well-folded the protein is, and a list of high scores for each puzzle is maintained. The high score of a Video game, Arcade game, or Computer game is usually the highest logged point value

The process by which living beings create the primary structure of proteins, protein biosynthesis, is reasonably well understood, as is the means by which proteins are encoded as DNA. Protein biosynthesis (synthesis is the process in which cells build Proteins The term is sometimes used to refer only to protein translation but more The term DNA sequencing encompasses biochemical methods for determining the order of the Nucleotide bases Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine Determining how the primary structure of a protein turns into a functioning three-dimensional structure – how the molecule "folds" – is more difficult; the general process is known, but predicting protein structures is computationally demanding. In Chemistry, a molecule is defined as a sufficiently stable electrically neutral group of at least two Atoms in a definite arrangement held together by Protein structure prediction is one of the most important goals pursued by Bioinformatics and Theoretical chemistry. Computation is a general term for any type of Information processing.

Foldit is an attempt to apply the human brain's natural three-dimensional pattern matching abilities to this problem. The human brain controls the Central nervous system (CNS by way of the Cranial nerves and Spinal cord, the Peripheral nervous system (PNS In Computer science, pattern matching is the act of checking for the presence of the constituents of a given Pattern. Current puzzles are based on well-understood proteins; by analysing the ways in which humans intuitively approach these puzzles, researchers hope to improve the algorithms employed by existing protein-folding software. In Mathematics, Computing, Linguistics and related subjects an algorithm is a sequence of finite instructions often used for Calculation
