Plot

In the waning months of World War II, a mild mannered businessman, Lawrence 'Larry' Newman (Macy) and his new wife, Gertrude 'Gert' Hart (Dern) are mistakenly identified as Jews by their anti-Semitic Brooklyn neighbors. World War II, or the Second World War, (often abbreviated WWII) was a global military conflict which involved a majority of the world's nations, including PLEASE TAKE NOTE************ Antisemitism (alternatively spelled anti-semitism or anti-Semitism; also rarely known as judeophobia) is the Prejudice against or hostility Brooklyn (named after the Dutch town Breukelen) is one of the five boroughs of New York City. Suddenly the victims of religious and racial persecution, they find themselves aligned with a local Jewish immigrant (Paymer) in a struggle for dignity and survival.
