Flavio Chamis is a Brazilian composer and conductor. His CD "Especiaria" was released in Brazil by the Biscoito Fino label. Biscoito Fino is a Record label from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Founded by Olivia Hime (wife of Francis Hime, a famous Brazilian songwriter The CD was nominated for a 2007 Latin Grammy Awards, and one of its songs "Deuses do Ceu" is a prize winner of the 2007 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The Latin Grammy Awards were launched in 2000 with a telecast aired on CBS. The John Lennon Songwriting Contest, named for the former member of The Beatles, is an international contest for Songwriters open to Amateurs and Professionals Chamis also received the "2007 International Press Award" in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. On the classical front, Mr. Chamis studied at the Rubin Academy of Music, at the Tel Aviv University, graduating in Orchestral Conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. The Hochschule für Musik Detmold is a conservatory in Detmold, Germany. Mr. Chamis served as an assistant conductor to Leonard Bernstein on several occasions, and recorded for the Solstice Label with the Nouvel Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France.
