Fernie Castle is an enlarged sixteenth century tower house in north-east Fife, Scotland. A tower house is a particular type of stone structure built for defensive purposes as well as habitation. Fife ( Gaelic: Fìobha) is a Council area of Scotland, situated between the Firth of Tay and the Firth of Forth, with inland Scotland ( Gaelic: Alba) is a Country in northwest Europethat occupies the northern third of the island of Great Britain.

Situated just east of the village of Letham, it was originally in an L-plan layout. Letham may refer to Places Letham Angus Letham Falkirk Letham Fife People An L-plan castle is a castle or towerhouse in the shape of an L typically built in the 13th to the 17th century However, the house has been much altered and extended since, notably additions made in Scottish baronial style in the nineteenth century. The Scottish Baronial style is part of the Gothic revival in architectural styles drawing on stylistic elements and forms from Castles Tower houses The 19th century of the Common Era began on January 1, 1801 and ended on December 31, 1900, according to the Gregorian calendar

It currently operates as a hotel.
