The Federal Way Station is a proposed light rail station on the southern extension of Sound Transit's Central Link, the South Link, to be constructed as part of Sound Transit's Phase 2 (ST2) system expansion plan. Sound Transit has been the popular name of Washington state's Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority since 1996 Central Link is a 157-mile (253 km Light rail line running between downtown Seattle and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in SeaTac Washington The South Link is a southern extension of the Central Link Light rail line spanning about 23 miles from Sea-Tac Airport to Tacoma Dome Station The station will be located at the new Federal Way Transit Center in Downtown Federal Way. If constructed, the station will be elevated, located on the eastern side of the parking garage. Several expansion projects will be constructed to support the expected surge of transit users in the area, such as new parking, a larger bus transfer facility, and minor road improvements.
