History

False River Academy (also known as Pointe Coupee Preparatory Academy) was formed, in 1969, in the wake of forced integration in the Pointe Coupee Parish Public school system[1]. In the summer of 1969, a number of like-minded parents joined together to create an institution of learning that excelled in academics, and instilling moral values and ethics in its students. This group of founding parents were upset with the deterioration of the local neighborhood schools and decided to form a school that functioned like a family.

Temporary buildings were set up on the edge of a sugar cane field, a short distance from False River. The permanent brick buildings and gymnasium where later added as the school grew.
