FSN South had its origins as the Turner Broadcasting System network SportSouth. Turner Broadcasting System Inc (often abbreviated TBS Networks or TBS Inc It was purchased by News Corporation's Fox Cable group in 1996 and re-named Fox Sports South. FSN South formerly produced the Southern Sports Report in their Midtown Atlanta studios, when the "regional sports reports" were a prime focus of the collective FSN networks. Midtown Atlanta is a district in Atlanta Georgia, situated between the commercial and financial district of Downtown to the south and the affluent residential Other FSN networks also received their local sports reports from the Atlanta studios, often with the same hosts (Terry Chick being the most prominent).
