The Explorer Plate is an oceanic tectonic plate beneath the Pacific Ocean off the west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. Plate tectonics (from Greek τέκτων tektōn "builder" or "mason" describes the large scale motions of Earth 's Lithosphere The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the Earth 's Oceanic divisions Vancouver Island is a large Island in British Columbia, Canada, one of several North American regions named after George Vancouver, the British Country to "Dominion of Canada" or "Canadian Federation" or anything else please read the Talk Page

To the east, the Explorer Plate is being subducted under the North American Plate. In Geology, a subduction zone is an area on Earth where two tectonic plates meet and move towards one another with one sliding underneath the other The North American Plate is a Tectonic plate covering most of North America, Greenland and part of Siberia. To the south is a transform fault, the Sovanco Fracture Zone, separating the Explorer Plate from the Pacific Plate. A transform fault is a fault which runs along the boundary of a Tectonic plate. The Sovanco Fracture Zone is a right lateral-moving Transform fault and associated Fracture zone located offshore of Vancouver Island in Canada The Pacific Plate is an oceanic Tectonic plate beneath the Pacific Ocean. To the southeast is another transform boundary, the Nootka Fault separating it from the Juan de Fuca Plate. The Nootka Fault is an active Transform fault located off Nootka Island, near Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The Juan de Fuca Plate, named after the explorer, is a Tectonic plate arising from the Juan de Fuca Ridge, and subducting under the northerly To the northwest is a divergent boundary with the Pacific Plate forming the Explorer Ridge. In Plate tectonics, a divergent boundary or divergent plate boundary (also known as a constructive boundary or an extensional boundary) is a The Explorer Ridge is a Mid-ocean ridge, a Divergent tectonic plate boundary located about west of Vancouver Island, British Columbia The Explorer Plate is one of the northern remnants of the Farallon Plate. The Farallon Plate was an ancient Oceanic plate, which began Subducting under the west coast of the North American Plate &mdash then located in modern
