Excalion was born in December 2000 in Konnevesi, central Finland. Konnevesi is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Central Finland A music genre is a categorical and typological construct that identifies musical sounds as belonging to a particular category and type of music that can be distinguished from other Symphonic metal or opera metal is a term used to describe Heavy metal music that has symphonic elements that is elements that sound similar to a Power metal is a style of Heavy metal music combining characteristics of traditional metal with Thrash metal or Speed metal, often within Hard rock (also referred to as heavy rock) is a variation of Rock music which has its earliest roots in mid-1960s garage and Psychedelic rock 2000 ( MM) was a Leap year that started on Saturday of the Common Era, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar. For reasons that have partly escaped everyone, the band was named Excalion. In autumn 2001 Excalion recorded their first demo "Forlorn". Years 2002 and 2003 saw some scattered gigs and reasonably hard rehearsing. In autumn of 2003 Excalion made their second demo "Obsession to Prosper". This demo was convincing enough. At the end of 2003 the band signed a deal with Sound Riot Records, and the recording of Excalion's debut album was fixed at autumn 2004. Sound Riot Records is an Independent record label founded in March 1994 in the Brazil. The work was done at Studio Watercastle in September 2004. The debut album, which was named Primal Exhale, was released through Sound Riot Records in autumn 2005 as well as it was licensed by Stay Gold/Art Union Records in the Japan. Sound Riot Records is an Independent record label founded in March 1994 in the Brazil. The album ended up featuring ten tracks. ‘Primal Exhale’ received some very positive feedback.

Early 2005, before the release, changes in the line-up took place. Kimmo left the band and Excalion had to look for a new guitar player. When bassist Timo soon also left the band and new, excellent guitarist Vesa Nupponen joined in, the decision was made that Tero would switch to the bass, and Excalion would continue as a five-member band with one guitar. The decision was ultimately very easy, because the new line-up immediately started to work extremely well.

May 2006 was time for the recordings of the band's second album named Waterlines. The new material is more melodic, hard and fully rich in the song writing and playing, it isn’t only Prog or Power Metal in all. That could to be said they found their “own sound” now. The recordings took place once again in Watercastle Studio. During the fall 2006 it came clear that new album had potential and some bigger record companies were interested in licensing the album. Eventually Sound Riot Records decided to license ‘Waterlines’ to Limb Music worldwide; however, it was also licensed to Stay Gold/Art Union Records for the Japanese market exclusively. Sound Riot Records is an Independent record label founded in March 1994 in the Brazil. Limb Music is an Independent record label based in Hamburg, Germany. Its release date is scheduled 2nd of March 2007
