Everything Went Numb is the first song off Streetlight Manifesto's first full length album, Everything Goes Numb, which was released in 2003. Streetlight Manifesto is an American ska band from East Brunswick Township New Jersey under the creative leadership of Tomas Kalnoky. Everything Goes Numb is the first full length album by musical group Streetlight Manifesto. Year 2003 ( MMIII) was a Common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar. It was also the opening track of the band's demo. The song tells a story about a poor protagonist who attempted a robbery but was unfortunately caught, causing panicky internal bickering within himself. Poor is an Adjective related to a state of Poverty, low Quality or Pity. Robbery is the Crime of seizing Property through Violence or Intimidation.

As stated in the "Songwriting Notes" section of the demo, the song was first created in 1998. Circumstances led to its temporary dismissal until Tomas Kalnoky, the guitarist, singer and lyricist (amongst many other things), stumbled upon "the tales of sin city (sic)" (whether this means the Frank Miller comic series or Las Vegas is unknown). Tomas Kalnoky (born on December 24, 1980) is the lead singer/guitarist and songwriter of the bands Streetlight Manifesto and Bandits of the Acoustic The influence led Kalnoky "head first into old territory. . . smoky bars, trench coats, busted mugs, stuff like that"; such shadiness was a major theme of his work on Catch 22's Keasbey Nights. Keasbey Nights was the debut full-length release by Catch 22, and is considered one of the defining albums of the third-wave ska explosion in 90s America

Kalnoky claims he primarily wrote the lyrics during an extended car ride. He also planned to make a music video for the song, since it featured such a tangible storyline, but no video was ever made. The band would not make an official music video until their 2007 release Somewhere in the Between. Somewhere in the Between is a full length studio album by Streetlight Manifesto, released November 13, 2007.

The song lasts three minutes and twenty nine seconds. While it is occasionally played on several independent radio stations, it never broke into the mainstream.

There are also rumors that Kalnoky originally wrote the song for his other band, Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, with the song originally titled "It All Goes Numb". Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, or BOTAR, is a musical collective of a varying and undefinable genre which includes influences from Ska, punk, Several lyric sites have "It All Goes Numb" listed under BOTAR, in addition to the songs from their EP, A Call to Arms. An extended play ( EP) is a Vinyl record, CD, or Music download which contains more music than a single, but is too short to qualify A Call to Arms is the first CD released by the musical ensemble Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, and is an EP containing 5 tracks
