Eve Myles (born 1978 in Ystradgynlais, Powys), is a Welsh actress, most notable for playing lead characters in Belonging and Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood. Biography

Born in Ystradgynlais, Myles attended the Ysgol Maes Y Dderwen school in the same class as fellow actor Steve Meo. Ystradgynlais is a Town on the River Tawe in south west Powys, Wales. Steven Meo (born 1977, Swansea) best known for playing Grant in the BBC Three show Grownups, and Owen in the BBC Wales After training as an actress and completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in acting at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff,[1] she graduated in 2000 and moved to London. The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama ( Welsh: Coleg Brenhinol Cerdd a Drama Cymru) is a Conservatoire located in Cardiff. Cardiff ( 'kɑːdɪf) is the Capital and the largest city and county in Wales. London ( ˈlʌndən is the capital and largest urban area in the United Kingdom. Her career since has shown her ability to switch between stage and screen.

Career

In 2001, Myles undertook a roles in the television film Score and the TV mini-series Tales from Pleasure Beach. Tales from the Pleasure Beach was a three-part drama series broadcast on BBC Two in 2001. From 2002 she took the lead role of Ceri in the BBC Wales drama Belonging. BBC Wales ( BBC Cymru) is a division of the British Broadcasting Corporation for Wales. In 2003 she took the role of young Gwen in the EastEnders spin-off storyline Dot's Story. EastEnders is a most popular and award-winning Television Soap opera, first broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC1 on 19 February 1985

From 2003, Myles based herself in Stratford upon Avon, initially playing Lavinia in the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Titus Andronicus. Stratford-upon-Avon (ˌstrætfɚd əpɒn ˈɛɪvən is a Market town and Civil parish in south Warwickshire, England. In Roman mythology, Lavinia was the daughter of Latinus and Amata. Myles had a significant part as a stable girl in the ill-fated BBC TV series Trainer, and reappeared in the BBC short film Colditz in 2005. Trainer is a British Television series transmitted by the BBC between 1991 and 1992. The role led to her taking a supporting role in the Doctor Who episode "The Unquiet Dead," where by she was spotted by producer Russell T Davies who commented that: "It just confirmed to me that she was one of Wales' best-kept secrets. Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. " The Unquiet Dead " is an episode in the British science-fiction television series Doctor Who that was first broadcast on Russell T Davies, OBE (born Stephen Russell Davies, 27 April, 1963) is a critically acclaimed British Television producer " Consequently Davies wrote the part of Gwen in Torchwood specifically for Myles . [2] The role resulted in her moving back home to Wales. [3] Eve is also rumoured to appear in the Series 4 Finale of Doctor Who.

Awards

In 2002[4] and 2003,[5] Myles was nominated for Best Actress in the BAFTA Cymru Awards for her role as Ceri on the BBC Wales drama Belonging. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA is a British charity that hosts annual awards shows for film television television craft video games and forms of animation BBC Wales ( BBC Cymru) is a division of the British Broadcasting Corporation for Wales.
