History
Eure is one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution on March 4, 1790. The French Revolution (1789–1799 was a period of political and social upheaval in the History of France, during which the French governmental structure previously an It was created from part of the former province of Normandy. The Kingdom of France was organised into Provinces until March 4, 1790, when the establishment of the département Normandy (Normandie Norman: Normaundie) is a geographical region corresponding to the former Duchy of Normandy.
The local dialect of the Norman language is known as Augeron. Norman is a Romance language and one of the Oïl languages. The northern Norman can be classified in the septentrional Oil languages with Picard and Augeron is the Norman dialect of the Pays d'Auge. It is highly endangered

Eure is part of the current region of Haute-Normandie and is surrounded by the departments of Seine-Maritime, Oise, Val-d'Oise, Yvelines, Eure-et-Loir, Orne, and Calvados.
