Plot
The film is set during the Second World War on a German-occupied Greek island. World War II, or the Second World War, (often abbreviated WWII) was a global military conflict which involved a majority of the world's nations, including Greece (Ελλάδα transliterated: Elláda, historically, Ellás,) officially the Hellenic Republic (Ελληνική Δημοκρατία It is filmed on the island of Rhodes according to the credits at the end of the film. There is a small town on the island where the Greek resistance movement is strong. A resistance movement is a group or collection of individual groups dedicated to fighting an Invader in an occupied country or the government of a sovereign nation
On the same island there is a POW camp. A prisoner-of-war camp is a site for the containment of enemy combatants captured by the enemy in time of war and is similar to an Internment camp which is used for civilian The commandant of the camp is an antiques-loving Austrian, Major Otto Hecht (Roger Moore). Sir Roger George Moore KBE (born 14 October 1927) is an English Actor. The prisoners, living quite a comfortable life, are doing archaeological work and the commandant is sending valuable works of art to his sister living in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the Greek resistance movement is preparing for the landing of the Allies. The overtaking of the camp is a part of this plan. Another task is to destroy the missile launching pad (located in a monastery).
