Born in St John's, Newfoundland, he was a lawyer, businessman and deputy mayor in St. St John's (ˌseɪntˈdʒanz French Saint-Jean) is the provincial capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada and located on the eastern tip John's. As well, he was the president of the Newfoundland Liberal party. He was summoned to the Senate of Canada in 1964 representing the senatorial division of St. The Senate of Canada (Le Sénat du Canada is a component of the Parliament of Canada, along with the sovereign (represented by the governor general John's East, Newfoundland and Labrador. He sat a member of the Liberal caucus until 1982 when he resigned and sat as an Independent.
