Erhardt Kapp (born June 16, 1959) is a retired U. S. soccer defender and current youth soccer coach. Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a Team sport played between two teams of eleven players and is widely considered In Association football (soccer a defender is a player who tries to prevent the other team from scoring He was also a member of the 1984 U. S. Olympic soccer team.
Kapp played for the New York based Kolping Soccer Club and Blau-Weiss Gottschee as a child. Kapp attended the University of Connecticut from 1977-1980 where he played on the men’s soccer team under the legendary Joe Morrone. The University of Connecticut ( Connecticut or UConn) is the State of Connecticut 's Land-grant university. He was named a first team All American in 1981. The Division I First-Team All-Americans are the best eleven U He was also a second team All American in 1980 and earned honorable mention in 1978.
The New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League (NASL) selected Kapp in the first round of the 1981 NASL College Draft. The New York Cosmos (1971–1985 known simply as the Cosmos for the 1977 and 1978 seasons was a soccer franchise based in New York City and its suburbs that operated North American Soccer League (NASL was a professional soccer League with teams in the United States of America (U He played with the Cosmos through the end of the 1983. On November 16, 1983, the Cosmos released Kapp because of his inability to break into the team’s starting lineup. [1] In December 1983, Kapp signed with the Pittsburgh Spirit of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). Kapp was a member of the U.S. Olympic soccer team at the 1984 Summer Olympics where he played all three games.
