Enteroglucagon is a peptide hormone derived from preproglucagon. Peptides (from the Greek πεπτίδια, "small digestibles" are short Polymers formed from the linking in a defined order of α- Amino Hormones (from Greek ὁρμή - "impetus" are chemicals released by cells that affect cells in other parts of the body It is a gastrointestinal hormone, secreted from mucosal cells primarily of the colon and terminal ileum. The colon is a storage tube for solid wastes The main function of the colon appears to be extraction of Water and salts from Feces. In Anatomy of the Digestive system, the ileum is the final section of the Small intestine. It has 37 amino acids. Enteroglucagon is released following ingestion of a mixed meal, and delays gastric emptying.
