Energia II, named "Uragan" (Russian: ураган, meaning Hurricane), was a rocket planned to be fully reusable and would be able to land on a conventional airfield. Russian ( transliteration:,) is the most geographically widespread language of Eurasia, the most widely spoken of the Slavic languages Unlike the Energia, which was planned to be semi-reusable (like that of the U.S. Space Shuttle), the "Uragan" design would have allowed the complete recovery of all Buran/Energia elements, like that of the original totally reusable Orbiter/Booster concept of the U. NASA 's Space Shuttle, officially called the Space Transportation System ( STS) is the Spacecraft currently used by the United States S. Shuttle. The Energia II core would be capable of re-entering and gliding to a landing, presumably using technology developed for the Buran.

Although this design never flew, the U. S. , prior to the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster in 2003, looked at replacing the present-day four-segment Solid Rocket Boosters, which caused the Challenger Disaster in 1986, with either a liquid-fueled "fly-back" booster based on the "Uragan" booster (but using either an Atlas V or Delta IV Common Core Booster with RD-180 engine) or a five-segment SRB. The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster occurred on February 1, 2003, when the Space Shuttle ''Columbia'' disintegrated over Texas Year 2003 ( MMIII) was a Common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar. Solid rocket boosters (SRB (or motors SRM are used to provide the main Thrust in spacecraft launches from the launchpad up to burnout of the SRBs The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster took place on January 28 1986 when ''Challenger'', a Space Shuttle operated by NASA, broke apart Year 1986 ( MCMLXXXVI) was a Common year starting on Wednesday (link displays 1986 Gregorian calendar) The Atlas V Rocket is an Expendable launch vehicle formerly built by Lockheed Martin and now built by the Lockheed Martin- Boeing joint venture The Delta IV is a family of Delta Rockets designed by Boeing 's Integrated Defense Systems division and built in United Launch Alliance's Common Core Booster (CCB is the modular liquid fuelled first stage of the Atlas V Expendable launch system. The RD-180 is a dual- Combustion chamber, dual Nozzle, Russian developed Rocket engine, derived from the RD-170 used in Zenit rockets Srb is a village located in the southeastern part of Lika, Croatia. After Columbia, the fly-back booster was scrapped as the new Ares I rocket will use a modified form of the five-segment booster, although the previous Mars Direct boosters (now the Ares V) would have used the fly-back booster design. Ares I is the crew Launch vehicle being developed by NASA as a component of Project Constellation. Mars Direct is a proposal for a relatively low-cost manned mission to Mars with current rocket technology The Ares V (formerly known as the Cargo Launch Vehicle or CaLV is the cargo launch component of Project Constellation.
