It tells the story of four dissimilar women in post-World War I England who leave damp and rainy London to go on a holiday to a secluded coastal villa in Italy (Portofino). World War I (abbreviated WWI; also known as the First World War, the Great War, and the War to End All England is a Country which is part of the United Kingdom. Its inhabitants account for more than 83% of the total UK population whilst its mainland Italy (Italia officially the Italian Republic, (Repubblica Italiana is located on the Italian Peninsula in Southern Europe, and on the two largest Portofino ( Ligurian: Portofin) is a small Italian fishing village Comune and tourist resort located in the Province of Genoa Two housewives, who belong to the same church but have never spoken, become acquainted. Each in her own way is suffering through an empty marriage and faces the prospect of a lonely and almost isolated middle age. After seeing a newspaper ad for a villa for rent on the Italian Riviera, the women set about finding two other ladies to share expenses. The Italian Riviera is the narrow coastal strip which lies between the Ligurian Sea and the mountain chain formed by the Maritime Alps and the Apennines Joined by a beautiful young socialite and an elderly dowager, the four find rejuvenation in the tranquil beauty of their surroundings.
