According to Tom Robinson, the plot was based on a subplot from the Lindsay Anderson movie if..... Lindsay Gordon Anderson ( April 17 1923 — August 30 1994) was an Indian born English Feature film, Theatre if is an award-winning 1968 Feature film by British director Lindsay Anderson satirising English public school The theme of homosexual love caused a controversy, inspiring such tabloid headlines as "Elton's gay video shocker".
