The mountains dominate the area in a hilly form and a taller one to the south and east. It is filled with farmlands and groves in the central part. The Loussios flows to the west and featuyres the gorge. Modern Elliniko is one of the current villages founded by the people of Ancient Gortys (Arcadia). This article is about the ancient city in Crete another place with the same name is Gortyna Arcadia.
