The electoral division of Tablelands is an electoral district in the Queensland Legislative Assembly in the state of Queensland, Australia. The Queensland Legislative Assembly is the Unicameral chamber of the Parliament of Queensland. It encompasses towns on the Atherton Tablelands west of Cairns, including Mareeba, Atherton, Ravenshoe, Chillagoe and Mt Molloy. The Atherton Tableland is a fertile plateau which is part of the Great Dividing Range in Queensland, Australia. Mareeba Atherton Ravenshoe Chillagoe in northern Queensland, Australia, was once a thriving mining town for a range of minerals but is now reduced to a small zinc mine and some Marble Mount Molloy is a historic Mining and Timber town lying 160 Kilometres north of Cairns.
The seat was won by the One Nation Party (from the Nationals) in 1998. Not to be confused with the One Nation program of infrastructure works carried out from 1991 to 1996 by the Keating Labor Government The National Party of Australia is an Australian political party. Shaun Nelson, the elected candidate, departed the party and contested the 2001 election as an Independent, losing to One Nation's new candidate Rosa Lee Long.
