In the 1928 Olympics she won the gold medal in the 4x200 m freestyle relay event and silver medal in the 100 m freestyle event.

Four years later she won the gold medal in the 4x200 m freestyle relay event and bronze medal in the 100 m freestyle event.

She died in Orinda, California.
