Sir Edmund de Burgh (1298–1338) was the fifth and last surviving son of Richard, Lord of Connaught and Earl of Ulster. Richard Óg de Burgh 2nd Earl of Ulster (1259 &ndash 29 July 1326) called The Red Earl, was one of the most powerful Irish nobles of the late 13th and The title of Lord of Connaught was used by several Norman barons in Ireland. The title of Earl of Ulster has been created several times in the Peerages of Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Edmond assumed the right of the Lordship of Connaught. Sir Ulick Burke, and Edmond Albanach Burke were his cousins and refused Edmond the right to the headship of the Burke clan. Sir Ulick Burke (died 1353 was an Irish nobleman the third son of William Liath Burke. Out of that the Burke Civil War 1333-38 began, and out of it, junior branches later arose. Edmond de Burke was during the Burke Civil War at Castleconnell in Limerick. Castleconnell ( Caisleán Uí Chonaill in Irish) is a scenic Village on the banks of the River Shannon, some 11 km (7 miles from Limerick Limerick (pronounced /ˈlɪmrɪk/ Luimneach in Irish) is a city and the county seat of County Limerick in the Province of Munster He was the leader of the Clanwilliam.

Edmond died in 1338 when he and his men were trying to visit the Augustinian Friars in the town of Ballinrobe.
