They were founded in 1948 by a consortium including Frank Varey and R. L. Rae. The team operated at Old Meadowbank 1948 until 1954 and from 1960 until 1967. [2]
The Monarchs moved to Coatbridge and raced at Cliftonhill for two seasons.
