Eccles College is a further education college in Eccles, Salford, England , providing AS and A level courses, amongst others. Further education (often abbreviated "FE" is Post-secondary Education (in addition to that received at Secondary school) that is distinct from Eccles is a town within the Metropolitan borough of the City of Salford, in Greater Manchester, England. Salford lies at the heart of the City of Salford, a Metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester, in North West England. England is a Country which is part of the United Kingdom. Its inhabitants account for more than 83% of the total UK population whilst its mainland The A-level, short for Advanced Level, is a General Certificate of Education qualification in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, Students may also retake their GCSEs at the college. The General Certificate of Secondary Education ( GCSE) is the name of an academic qualification awarded in a specified subject generally taken in a number of subjects by Eccles College has an above average pass rate for all courses. The college has recently undergone a period of structural redevelopment, with the opening of a new building in 2005, containing a new class-room block, subject-related computer work areas and state-of-the-art sports centre.
The merger of Eccles College, Salford College, and Pendleton College is scheduled for 1 August 2008, forming the new Salford City College [2]. Under this proposal the corporations of Eccles and Salford are dissolved, and all assets and staff transferred to Pendleton's administration. Pendleton College will then be renamed to 'Salford City College'.
In the foreseeable future the new college will continue to operate from the original 3 campuses.
