East Caicos is the fourth largest island in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Turks and Caicos Islands ( TCI) (ˈtɜːks ænd ˈkeɪkəs are a British Overseas Territory consisting of two groups of tropical islands in the West Indies To the west, it is separated from Middle Caicos by Lorimer Creek, a narrow passage that can accommodate only small boats. Middle Caicos, also Grand Caicos is the largest island in the Turks and Caicos Islands. To the south is South Caicos. South Caicos is the seventh largest island in the Turks and Caicos islands archipelago with a land area of 21
East Caicos has an area of 90. 6 km² within the high water mark, and of 182. 0 km² within the shoreline. The difference between the two vales is not accounted for as land area. On East Caicos is 48 metre high Flamingo Hill, highest point in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The island has been uninhabited since the early 1900s, when much of it was a sisal plantation. Sisal or sisal hemp is an Agave Agave sisalana that yields a stiff Fiber used in making Rope. The former settlement, Jacksonville, was located at the northern tip of the island, where the ruins can still be seen.
East Caicos belongs to the South Caicos and East Caicos District.
