Earth is an American drone band based in Seattle, Washington. The United States of America —commonly referred to as the Drone music, also known as drone-based music, drone ambient or ambient drone, dronescape or dronology, and sometimes simply Washington ( is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Although they have played various styles of music, they are best known as pioneers of a minimalistic, long, and repetitive form of heavy music known as drone doom. Minimalism describes movements in various forms of art and design especially Visual art and music, where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features The band's early albums could be seen as a variation of the experimental doom-influenced metal of The Melvins. The Melvins is an American Sludge metal band that usually perform as a Power trio. Earth's sound, however, currently has little to do with metal.

Biography
Dylan Carlson founded the band in 1990 along with Slim Moon and Greg Babior, taking the title "Earth" from Black Sabbath's original name. Dylan Carlson (born 1968 is the lead guitarist lead singer and only constant member of the Drone metal group Earth. Slim Moon (b Matthew Moon on October 15, 1967 in Missoula Montana, United States) is the founder of the independent Black Sabbath are an Carlson has remained the core of the band's line-up throughout its changes. Outside of the underground music world, Carlson is perhaps best known for having been a friend of grunge music icon Kurt Cobain, as well as the person who purchased the gun that Cobain later used to commit suicide.
