Earl of Munster is a title that has been created twice, once in the Peerage of Ireland and once in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. The Peerage of Ireland is the term used for those peers created by British monarchs in their capacity as Lord or King of Ireland. The Peerage of the United Kingdom comprises most Peerages created in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland after the Act of Union in 1801 when The first creation came in the Peerage of Ireland in 1789 in favour of Prince William, the third son of King George III. The second creation came in the Peerage of the United Kingdom 1831 for George Augustus Frederick FitzClarence, the eldest illegitimate son of William IV.
