Duotang was a two piece power pop band from Winnipeg, Manitoba comprised of Rod Slaughter and Sean Allum. Novillero is a Canadian Indie pop band formed in 1999 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They formed sometime in the summer of 1995. Their respective bands Zen Bungalow and Bovine shared a practice space. They began staying behind to craft their own music.

They played a show with the Smugglers which led to a signing with Mint Records in March of 1996. The Smugglers are a Canadian Indie rock band The band consists of vocalist Grant Lawrence, guitarists Nick Thomas and David Carswell They released a 7", entitled The Message July 16, 1996.

Their first album, Smash the Ships and Raise the Beams was recorded in Vancouver by Darryl Neudorf. It was released August 29, 1996.

Their second album, The Cons & The Pros was released May 20, 1998. They then toured Canada with fellow locals, The Weakerthans. The Weakerthans are an award-winning four-piece (and sometimes six-piece Canadian Indie rock band that blends Punk rock with Folk rock.

Their last full length release entitled The Bright Side was recorded at Private Ear Studios in Winnipeg, Manitoba with Cam Loeppky. It was released June 5, 2001. They reunited briefly in 2006 for the Mint Records Christmas Party.

Rod Slaughter currently plays with the Winnipeg mod band, Novillero. Novillero is a Canadian Indie pop band formed in 1999 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
