The sicklefishes are perciform fishes of the genus Drepane, the only genus in the family Drepaneidae. The Perciformes, also called the Percomorphi or Acanthopteri, include about 40% of all bony Fish and are the largest order of vertebrates. In Biological classification, family ( Latin They are found in the Indian and western Pacific Oceans, and in the eastern Atlantic near Africa. Taxonomic note
There are three described species, but the distinction between D. longimana and D. punctata is based on colour, not morphology, so they may be synonyms.
