He made his name with OFK Beograd where he was a defensive right back fixture for 11 years between 1962 and 1973, before moving on to Red Star Belgrade for 3 seasons until 1976. Stepanović's first stop abroad was German Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt where he became affectionately known as Steppi. Stepanović went on to become a successful football coach in Germany. After making a managerial name for himself in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen he was signed to coach Athletic Bilbao in July 1995. Eintracht Frankfurt is a German Sports club, based in Frankfurt, Hesse that is best known for its football team. Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball is a German football club based in Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Athletic Club is a Spanish football club from Bilbao in Biscay, Basque Country, Spain. On August 24, 2007, Stepanović was named the head coach of the Serbian Superliga club FK Čukarički. sr Super Liga Srbije ( Serbian Superliga) is a professional league competition for football clubs located at the top echelon of the Serbian football league system FK Čukarički Stankom is a Serbian football club from Čukarica that plays in the Serbian Superliga. His appointment came two weeks into the 2007-08 season during which Čukarički already played the Serbian powerhouses Red Star and Partizan, managing a draw and a loss respectively. The 2007-08 Serbian Superliga season was the second since its modification following the secession of Montenegro from Serbia. [1]
