Dragon Hall is a medieval building located in King Street, Norwich, Norfolk close to the River Wensum. History Roman The Romans had their regional capital at Venta Icenorum on the river to the south which is near modern-day Caistor St Edmund Norfolk (ˈnɔrfək is a low-lying county in East Anglia, England, United Kingdom. The River Wensum is a River in Norfolk England and a Tributary of the River Yare despite being the larger of the two rivers Although some parts, such as the undercroft, are earlier, the Hall as seen today dates from works carried out by merchant Robert Toppes from 1427 onwards. An undercroft is traditionally a cellar or storage room often brick-lined and vaulted, and used for storage in buildings since Medieval times It is a unique survival of a trading hall. Having been subdivided over the centuries, it was bought by the City Council in the 1970s and has been restored to its original state. iIts modern name comes from the carved dragon on one of the spandrels of the kingpost roof. It is also a Grade 1 listed building.
