After 2001 Auer's performance stagnated. In 2002 she resigned from competitive sports but continued to practice pole vaulting as a respectable amateur. Currently she is a full time high school teacher of sports in Vienna, Austria. Vienna ( in Wien; see also other names) is the Capital of Austria, and is also one of the nine States of Austria. She holds a university degree in sports and history.
