Davis was born in Aurora, Missouri, a town in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. Aurora is a city in Lawrence County, Missouri, United States. Missouri ( or) is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States bordered by Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in theater and art from Southwest Missouri State College. Missouri State University is a State university located in Springfield, Missouri. He received a Masters Degree in theatre from the Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1970. Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC but usually just referred to as SIU) is located in Carbondale, Illinois. [3] He taught for several years before returning to SIU to complete a PhD in theatre. He began working in the film industry in the 1980s, while teaching at the University of British Columbia.
