Doctor Jekill is a Cuban-American Rock band which gained notoriety in the late 1990s and early 2000s[1]throughout South America and the United States establishing a legacy as one of the most influential bands of the American-Latin underground. History

1996-1997

Dr Jekill was formed in Miami,FL in May 1996 by Singer guitarist Evelio Perez, Bass Player Jonathan Llaurador and Drummer Robert Gomez. The band toured heavily throughout South Florida and neighboring states for a whole year. During that time Robert Gomez was replaced by Doug Walker on the Drums and Jonathan Llaurador was replaced by carlos Mesa. In August 1996 Dr Jekill organized a benefit concert for "the Jimmy Rice Foundation"and shared the stage with Notorious Southern Florida Bands Like The Goods, Purple mustard, Kalimen, Seventeen Bucks and Orgasmic Bliss[4] now known as Volume Cero[5].

1997-1999

While Touring in Southern Florida Doctor Jekill was discovered by producer and promotion guru Anabella Ricardo [6] from RockEngine Productions Group. Doctor Jekill was then flown to Los Angeles,California where the band was quickly set into motion. That year the band debuted at a sold out presentation at The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. The Band went into studio and recorded their first Single "Mother's Love" released under RPG Records which skyrocketed overnight and gained them notoriety. The Mother's Love tour[7] following the success of the Single of the same title, was then set in motion, this tour help established their footing and earned them the nickname "The Kings of Rockajazz" setting up trends and selling out venue after venue especially in Latin American countries. The tour went well into late 1998 when they headedback into studio to record their second album. However, scheduling conflicts and contractual obligations prevented them from cutting their tour short. The management then decided to record the album live during the remainder of the tour. The Album was titled "Speed Demons" and it would be the Last Album "The Kings of RockaJazz would Release in Many Years. By the beginning of 1999 the band began to organize for their first official American Tour. The tour lasted an entire year placing Doctor Jekill on Stages al over America all in cities with large populations of predominantly Latin descent. This placed the band in the forefront of the American Underground Movement from which many mainstream bands like Rage Against the Machine and Ozomatli would emerge. 2000-Present

The new millennium brought new propects for the Kings and this time came in the form of percussion-extraordinare Abraham Juarez (Naguales)& (Caballo sin nombre) who met Evelio at a Jam session in Los Angeles with Rudy Regalado (Who was later featured in "Faking my Death") and Guitarist superstar Javier Batiz. Soon there after Ken Ackerman Joined the band and they went on to perform at The 3 Arts Event a concert series sponsored by RockEngine Productions Group and Gateway Entertainment. Soon thereafter they headed into studio for the first time in 7 years to Record a compilation of some of their best tunes to release it under a new name; "Faking my Death" which includes some of the most acclaimed themes from "The Kings of Rockajazz". The Album was released in 2005 under RPG Records. In January 2006 the band management announced a new tour called "The Resurrection Tour" designed to promote "Faking my Death" a superb album featuring guest artists like Latin Jazz percussion legend Rudy Regalado and Hip hop artists Alwa'z Carey the album was cut on a record-setting 4 days at Conway Studios in Hollywood, CA. When asked about it, during a live Radio appearance in KCLA 99-Rock in Los Angeles, California, they simply said "We didn't even realized that we had finished all the songs, well. . . that gave us a lot more time to mix at the studio". The resurrection tour according to their press release will include South America, Europe, Australia and Asia. officially their first global tour.
