Geography
The municipality of Distracción is located in the Guajira Peninsula, on the Valley of Upar formed by the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Serrania del Perija. Guajira Peninsula (Peninsula de La Guajira is a Peninsula in northern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela in the Caribbean sea. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is an isolated mountain range apart from the Andes chain that runs through Colombia.
