Dietram A. Scheufele is Professor of Life Sciences Communication and Journalism & Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also serves as Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Life Sciences Communication and is a faculty affiliate of the Robert and Jean Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies. Prior to joining UW, Scheufele was a tenured faculty member and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Communication at Cornell University.
He has published extensively in the areas of public opinion and political communication, including work on framing theory, participatory democracy and the spiral of silence.
