Diabetic foot is an umbrella term for foot problems in patients with diabetes mellitus. Prevention

Prevention is by frequent chiropody review, good foot hygiene, diabetic socks and shoes, and avoiding injury. The one randomized controlled trial that showed benefit of custom foot wear was in patients with a prior foot ulceration [5]. Foot ulcers in diabetes require multidisciplinary assessment, usually by diabetes specialists and surgeons. In Medicine, a surgeon is a person who performs Surgery. In 2004, The Cochrane review panel concluded that for people with diabetic foot ulcers, hyperbaric oxygen therapy reduced the risk of amputation and may improve the healing[7] at 1 year. The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases in medicine and other healthcare specialties provided by the Cochrane Collaboration and other organisations Hyperbaric medicine, also known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT is the medical use of Oxygen at a higher than Atmospheric pressure.
