Desmanthus illinoensis (commonly known as Illinois bundleflower, prairie-mimosa or prickleweed) is a plant in many areas of the south central US.
Root bark of D. illinoensis has been found to contain N,N-DMT, NMT, N-hydroxy-N-methyltryptamine, 2-hydroxy-N-methyltryptamine, and gramine (toxic). Dimethyltryptamine (DMT also known as NN -dimethyltryptamine, is a naturally occurring Tryptamine and potent psychedelic drug found not only in Gramine (also called donaxine is a naturally occurring Indole Alkaloid present in several plant species [2]
USDA Zones 5-8 are recommended for outside cultivation. [3]
