Indigenous Fijians, the native inhabitants of Fiji, are a mixture of Polynesian and Melanesian, resulting from the original migrations to the South Pacific many centuries ago. Fijian people are the major indigenous people of the Fiji Islands, and live in an area informally called Melanesia.
