Originally founded as 'Patrician Brothers, Granville' in 1942, Delany College currently caters for approximately 550 students from years 7 to 12, and is a school of the Diocese of Parramatta. There has been Catholic Education in the Diocese of Parramatta since before the Second World War Students are drawn from a number of local catholic schools including Holy Trinity Primary, Granville; Holy Family Primary, Granville East; St Patrick's Primary, Guildford and St Margaret Mary's Primary, Merrylands. Guildford is a Suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Merrylands is a Suburb in western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. [3]

The college is truly multicultural, with almost 80 per cent of the school population coming from non–English speaking backgrounds. History

Delany College was established in 1942 as Patrician Brothers' High School, a catholic, all-boys' school catering for students in Years 7 to 10. Single-sex education ( SSE) is the practice of conducting Education where male and female students attend separate classes or in separate buildings

The school became a Years 7 to 12, co-educational college in 1997, in order to meet the changing needs of the local community. The school was subsequently renamed Delany College after the Patrician Brothers' founder, Bishop Daniel Delany. The Patrician Brothers, or Brothers of Saint Patrick, are a Roman Catholic congregation for the religious and literary education of youth and the instruction of the faithful A bishop is an ordained or consecrated member of the Christian clergy who is generally entrusted with a position of authority and oversight Daniel Delany (b Jan 1747 Paddock Laois, Ireland -d 1814 was the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin.
