Vastly different from their first release, Your Favorite Weapon, Deja Entendu was positively received by critics for the meaningful songs and lyrics. Your Favorite Weapon (2001 is the debut full-length album by Long Island -based band Brand New. Lyrics (in singular form Lyric) are a set of words that accompany music either by speaking or singing Déjà Entendu is French for 'already heard' (much like the term 'déjà vu' meaning 'already seen') and is a commentary on modern rock. Two singles were released from the album: "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" and "Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades". " The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows " is a 2004 single by alternative rock band Brand New. " Sic Transit Gloria Glory Fades " is a 2004 single by the rock band Brand New from their second album Deja Entendu. The lyrics in this album are notably more mature than their previous record, portraying an enhanced feeling of fear, paranoia, and angst. Such examples include the rigors of endless touring ("I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light"), Lacey's struggle with his grandfather's lung cancer ("Guernica"), and the emotional and psychological tolls of sex ("Sic Transit Gloria. Lung cancer is a Disease of uncontrolled Cell growth in tissues of the Lung. . . Glory Fades" and "Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis"). Also notable is the concept of a dual storyline that exists in "Good to Know That if I Ever Need Attention All I Have to Do Is Die", where one story line reflects a writer's life and the other is the story he writes.

During the final 20 seconds of the album, on the track "Play Crack the Sky", Lacey can be heard muttering "Never to see any other way" before leaving the room. This phrase is in reference to the final track "A Day in the Life" on The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. "A Day in the Life" is a song by the British rock band The Beatles, written by John Lennon with the middle eight by Paul McCartney The Beatles were a pop and rock band from Liverpool, England formed in 1960 Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the British rock band The Beatles.

There is a little-known 12th song from this album entitled: "Flying at Tree Level Version 1. 0". The song was recorded during the Deja Entendu session, but didn't make it onto the album, instead appearing later on the Beer: The Movie compilation soundtrack. Beer The Movie ( 2006) is an Independent film produced in the Long Island Indie rock scene

The entire album was leaked, mostly unmixed, several months before release without song titles, and including the 12th track "Flying at Tree Level v1. 0". Although most tracks are similar to the final release, the track "Sic Transit Gloria. . . Glory Fades" has organ during the verses, which the final version doesn't.

This album ranked at #75 for Top 100 Albums of 2003 by Rate Your Music. Rate Your Music is a Metadata database where musical Albums EPs, singles, Videos and bootlegs are rated and reviewed [1]

The album was certified Gold on May 29th 2007, nearly 4 years after its original release. [2]
