Degrassi Junior High spanned 42 episodes, covering grades 7 through 9. The first half of the first season premiered January 18, 1987 with 13 episodes. Events 350 - Generallus Magnentius deposes Roman Emperor Constans and proclaims himself Emperor Year 1987 ( MCMLXXXVII) was a Common year starting on Thursday (link displays 1987 Gregorian calendar) New episodes screened on Sunday afternoons, and was brought up to prime time in the first season's second half. Prime Time is the major News analysis current affairs and Politics programme broadcast on Radio Telefís Éireann in Ireland Some of the characters were in grades 7-8, and in the second part of the first season the characters remained in the same grades, as the half-season was not their next academic school year, but instead, their second semester (the first season happened in the 1987-1988 school year). The characters were in grades 8 and 9 in the second season of the series. The ninth-graders stayed in junior high, but attended science class at Borden High School. Middle school or Junior High School serves as a "bridge" between the Elementary School and the High School The series ended with Degrassi Junior High being burnt down at a dance. Fabulous Films in the UK released in 2007 a three-disc complete first season DVD set of Degrassi Junior High. Fabulous Films also has the rights to The Kids Of Degrassi Street that will be released early in 2008.

In 1987 Degrassi Junior High won an International Emmy in the Children and Young People category for the episode "It's Late", where Christine "Spike" Nelson gets pregnant. Degrassi Junior High Season 1 (1987 Degrassi Junior High Season 1 (1987 Christine Nelson, aka Spike, (born September 1974 is a Fictional character on the Degrassi series played by Amanda Stepto. UK Schedules

The BBC refused to transmit the episode "Rumour Has It" when screening the first series of Degrassi Junior High because of the central theme of homosexuality. The BBC only screened the first season of the show.

From its first day of broadcasting in 1992, UK Gold screened Degrassi Junior High daily. The channel then screened Degrassi High in its entirety.
