He was born in Padua, the son of the painter Alessandro Varotari, and grandson of Dario Varotari the Elder. Padua ( Padova 'padova Latin: Patavium, Padoa) is a city in the Veneto, northern Italy. Alessandro Varotari ( April 4, 1588 – July 20, 1649) (also commonly known as il Padovanino) was a Venetian painter of Dario Varotari the Elder (c 1539–1596 was a Italian painter sculptor and architect of the Renaissance. He was popular as a portrait painter.
