Webber started his career as a schoolboy at Manchester United, where he made his debut as a substitute in the League Cup during the 2000-01 season, against Nottingham Forrest F. C. The following season, he made his first start in another League Cup game for United but was loaned out to Watford, where he scored two goals in five League appearances. Watford Football Club is an English professional football club based in Watford, Hertfordshire. A second loan spell in the season at Port Vale where he claimed he would score "a goal a game" gave him another four League games under his belt. Season 2002-03 brought Webber his third and final appearance for Manchester United, as a substitute in the Champions League.
