History

The estate of Danby Wiske was owned by the Calvert family; their most famous son was George Calvert, founder of the state of Maryland in the United States. George Calvert 1st Baron Baltimore ( c 1580 &ndash 15 April 1632 was an English Politician and coloniser. It has changed hands several times since.
